Flashback! Promises Serves Up Some Tasty 'Turkey' at the 1969 Tonys

What the heck is "Turkey Lurkey Time"? This novelty number by Burt Bacharach and Hal David became a highlight of the original 1968 production of Promises, Promises. Luckily for theater fans, the Tony-nominated choreography of Michael Bennett was preserved on that year's Tony telecast, which featured a stageful of scorching hot dancers (led by future Chorus Line star Donna McKechnie). In all, the show earned eight Tony nominations including Best Musical. More than 40 years later, it’s “Turkey Lurkey Time” again as the Promises, Promises revival plays to packed houses at the Broadway Theatre.
